Post Script: Network

Paddy Chayefsky was always a screenwriter ahead of his time, and Network is his biggest triumph at pushing the buttons of American corporations and engaging with the common people. The film is sadly prophetic, but it is a fantastic blend of fantasy and reality that often gets overlooked.

In this lesson, we look at the many ways Chayefsky utilizes monologues to try and drive specific messages to audiences everywhere. We observe why Network has such staying power, and why it was deemed an unrealistic comedy when first released.
