Films Fatale: An Introduction

Dearest readers,

This will be the first and only time I make a personal article of this kind of nature (for the foreseeable future, that is). It has been a dream of mine to make a film website of this nature for over ten years. Now that its finally here, I want to take this time to thank you all so much for taking the time to peruse through Films Fatale.

Films Fatale comes from my obsession with films noir and neo-noir works, with the femme fatale character type being one of the most groundbreaking in cinema. I similarly wanted to shake the conventionality of regular film blogs just a tiny bit, as to be unique but still recognizable. I've always been drawn to fashion editorials, and wondered why cinema couldn't be presented in a similar way.

So, here we are. This is the new house. It will need some renovations for sure, but it already feels like home. Our decor will be striking, but we will never make you feel unwelcome. We will cover films of all types, and will write in a way that takes you, our delightful readers, with the utmost sincerity and seriousness. This includes writing thoughtful pieces, but making them understandable at the same time. Being stylish doesn't mean we have to alienate you.

All of this is to unite the many crowds that cinema creates together. The Friday night blockbuster goers. The 35mm nitrate chasers. The streaming surfers. If you love movies, we want you to feel like you belong here.

Starting on the very first day of 2019 just feels right. There is never a dull moment in cinema, so we should get right down to business. I hope to make Films Fatale a destination for film lovers of all sorts. Once again, thanks to all of you for making it a reality for me.

The lights are now dimming, and the projector is beginning to run.
